Mission Statement
The mission of the Developmental Center is to provide students with multiple disabilities an educational program that improves the quality of life and optimizes students' independence and abilities to interact with family and others in the environment.
Developmental Center Programs
provide special education and related services to meet the unique educational needs of students with severe multiple disabilities.
provide specialized instruction to address the needs of each student based on their Individualized Educational Plan.
have a developmental functional curriculum that emphasizes:
augmentative communication
assistive technology
sensory stimulation
community based instruction (CBI)
parent involvement
Support Services Include:
- Occupational therapy
- Physical therapy
- Vision/Hearing consultation
- Social work services
- Psychological services
Assistive technology devices are used to increase a students independence throughout the day. Some examples are:
- Adaptive computer equipment
- Specially adapted toys
- Augmentative communication devices
- Capability switches
- Pictorial Exchange Communication System (PECS)
